July 17th to 22nd

July 17th, Robert makes lobster omelet for breakfast, yummy! Catch the 1:00 ferry to Pictou, Nova Scotia. A beautiful day for a ferry ride! Find our RV park then drive into Pictou to have a look around. There's a Farmer's Market that we will have to catch tomorrow as it closes in 5 minutes. There is an "Adopt a Lobster" centre here, talk to a young lady who works here, it's a Federal Government lobster hatchery. The area here has declining lobster stocks so they are trying to reverse that. The cylce is 7 years and they are in year 4. They have lobster from 1-3 days old! very cool. Running into more mosquitos and black flies! We don't like it!

July 18th, we do visit the Market before we head out of town. Take some of the scenic route to Antigonish then on and over the Canso Causeway and we are on Cape Breton Island. Beautiful sunny day and the drive is awesome. We are not impressed with the info we have from the Nova Scotia tourist bureau, trying to find a campground is not easy. Finally find MacLeod's RV Park on Dunvegan Beach, we are in the overflow but the beach makes up for it. The very best beach and water we have found yet! And the rocks are cool too we fill our pockets. Wiener roast for dinner.

July 19th, another beautiful day and we truck on through Margaree Harbour, Cheticamp and then stop at Flora's Gift Shop, manage to buy a few things! Starting to climb now so stop at a few view points, what can I say unbelieveable! I was here 28 years ago and remember it as being beautiful but this is really something to see. We climb then descend really working the Triton V10 - yikes our brakes must be hot! Finally over and coming down the Atlantic side we find an RV Park just out of Ingonish "Broad Cove". Ride our bikes over to the beach and swim or I should say dunk in the Atlantic. It's a might cold and the beach is very pebbly, hard on the feet.

July 20th, off today to complete the circle tour, the whole Cabot Trail! The reminder is certainly not as impressive as we've seen in fact we could of missed this part. Stop in Baddeck on Bras d'Or lake for fuel. A lovely little town with lots of sailboats in the water. Stop in Margaree Forks at a corner store and ask about camp grounds end up on Lake Ainslie and get a spot right on the lake. Lovely spot! Drive into Whycocomagh to find a place for dinner, we luck out and have a good dinner - no lobster! :o)

July 21st, we're away back over Canso Causeway and into Antigonish, find a Wal Mart and Superstore and stock up. Then we're off for the Eastern Shore, down highway 7 to Stillwater and a campground called "Nimrod" on a little lake and quite pretty. Meet some people from Crofton! She worked at CIBC and he worked for BC Tel. Amazing!

July 22nd, awoke to rain, we have a small lake forming around us. Finally turns to drizzle and we are off. Stop in Sherbrooke Village but do not tour the village, we visit the Info Centre and get more information on campgrounds and Provincial Parks. Then we're off along a very rough road, and lots of construction. It's very much like driving along the Pacific Rim, scrubby trees, misty and not very prosperous. Finally find Porter's Lake Provincial Park and get a couple of great spots, great view and it's not raining! Watch RV with Robin Williams tonight - sure am glad I'm not travelling with him! lol
