July 10 to the 16th

We spend two nights at Black Point. Our neighbours are great, all local people, very friendly. We walk the beach and swim and just take it easy.

July 11th we are off today on the Coastal Scenic route 134 through Bathurst, Caraquet, lots of Acadian flags. On through Miramichi - roads are ROUGH! Lots of fishing boats sitting in yards. On to Kouchibouguac Nationa Park, a bit rainy. Find the RV Park and get our spots, great place and we are able to eat out under the awning. Stopped today and bought some lobster, cooked and ready to eat.

July 12th we get on our bikes and ride over to the beach area. Walk the board walk over the sand dunes and to the beach. Sky threatening rain but I get my feet in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. We are off for PEI over the Confederation Bridge, very impressive! 12.6 km. Cross over PEI to Oyster Bed Bridge and find our RV Park. Beautiful countryside, lots of potatoes growing. Eat our lobster tonight.

July 13th, off to Charlottetown. Very busy with construction and of course Regis and Kelly are here taping and doing some live shows. We head down to the waterfront to check it out. A big cruise ship is in the harbour. Take a walking tour and do some shopping. Visit Confederation House and see where it all started, Canada that is! Very hot and humid today. Drive over to Summerside for dinner but have a difficult time finding a restaurant. When we do we are very disappointed, the potatoes are hard! and here we are in PEI! I guess they ran out of new potatoes.

July 14th, raining today but we pay for another night and we're off in the truck to do some touring. Head to Cavendish, did some shopping along the way and took some detours to various beaches. Watched a little fox try to find lunch. Dropped by Green Gables boy has it changed since I was here 28 years ago! Back to Summerside for groceries and stop at Subway for a Lobster Sub - yummy! Rain finaly stops.

July 15th woke to a sunny day. We are off heading for the East Point Lighthouse. Discover our battery is not charging properly, the inverter for the computer is squealing. I guess it is the alternator, oh great. Make it to Red Point Provincial park overlooking the Gulf, very beautiful. Check out the beach, great but chilly water and lots of red jelly fish. The park host tells us of a restaurant back at North Harbour so we decide to head there for dinner. Have an awesome meal and Leeta, our waitress (1st Nations) is absolutely great! And the truck makes it. North Harbour is Canada's Tuna Fishing Capital, lots of boats out fishing. They hold the record for biggest tuna caught at over 1400 lbs.

July 16th, my brother Richard's birthday, time to reflect on memories. Maurice spends time on the phone looking for an alternator. The Ford dealer in Montague finds one in Charlottetown and says he will have it by noon. So Moe puts the little Honda generator in the truck box and wires it to the truck battery somehow and off we head for Montague. We do make it, the Ford dealer is right on the highway so we just pull in pick it up and we are away to our next destination. Panmore Island Provincial Park, pull in and get settled. Moe changes the alternator then we are off to the beach. Beautiful sandy beach, sand dunes, and sun. We go for a swim, cool but refreshing. Awesome day.
